If you didn’t think that Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 (yes, that is the Official Title) was depressing enough, let’s add a little bit of YOU’R'E OLD to the mix. Oh, and even better? They have a new acronym: NKOTBSB. It’s a mashup, see? Show starts at 10 PM EST on ABC (DISH 245.)

Here’s the happy news– this truly brings together the leading and trailing edges of Generation X, all of which is now deemed Clark- worthy. And here’s a big bit of awesome from the press release:

I’m not really sure how I personally feel about this, to tell you the truth. On one hand: Ain’t no such thing as too much New Kids, except for maybe the cartoon. (You remember the cartoon? I do. My loss.) On the other: The Backstreet Boys flavor addition could well dilute the individual brands if this keeps up. The two bands have been touring together, and could well become just one big blob of ’90′s boybandom.
Then again… sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
